FACADE

Our next project is titled ‘Facade’ and it is influence by the Egon Schiele painting in the Belvedere in Vienna. I have added a photo of the painting and a detail. Here are some additional notes that were included in notes in the gallery about the painting

‘ How can you represent the colors and structures of old walls? Leonardo da Vinci had already urged his students to seek inspiration from this subject. And from an early stage Schiele was also interested in this motif. He was enchanted by the houses in the Bohemian town of Cesky Krumlov (Krumau) where he would retreat to paint. Schiele used a medium that resembled the plaster on a genuine facade thereby enhancing the textural effect. ‘ ( Notes, Belvedere Gallery).
