This week we looked at the work of the American painter Jon Redmond. I have attached a couple of his still life paintings.

There is a sense of light and colour in both works. He uses these simple kitchen utensils, as a vehicle to make dynamic interesting paintings that focus on colour, light, and composition. If you look closely at the works you can see that he uses colour reference points in the top left of each composition that appear as reflections in the cutlery. They are relatively small paintings 10 x 10 inches, oil on board, and you can discern the order of the layers that he has applied and the ground used to start the paintings.

Please note : owing to the difficult lighting conditions in the hall and reflections from glass etc, the quality of some of the photographs is unfortunately a bit mixed but hopefully good enough to give you a good enough view of the exhibition.
