I attach a picture by Elizabeth Forbes that is currently on show at the Walker Art Gallery.

The picture entitled ‘ blackberry picking ‘ - it is full of colour and movement. The Individual portraits are very sensitively painted and the overall warmth of the picture is evident in terms of how the light and colour has been used so effectively. Also note the way that the foliage to the bottom right of the painting gradually merges into the fabric of their clothes to tie the figures into the landscape.

Our new project for the next three weeks is ‘Windowsill.’ I have attached a painting by an American artist Scott Prior. I like the simplicity of the composition and how the colourful lights work in the picture. Note how the darker tones outside the window aid the sense of light and dark throughout the painting.

Please note : owing to the difficult lighting conditions in the hall and reflections from glass etc, the quality of some of the photographs is unfortunately a bit mixed but hopefully good enough to give you a good enough view of the exhibition.
